At Angostura, we prioritize employee engagement by fostering a welcoming and psychologically safe work environment. We achieve this through positive communication, recognition programs, learning initiatives, and growth opportunities, all while ensuring a healthy work-life balance. We recognize the importance of maintaining a well-balanced and engaged workforce by promoting a holistic healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally. For over 20 years, we have operated an in-house gym with a dedicated instructor and offered an active Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that encourages employees and their families to seek support for their mental well-being. In addition to focusing on physical and mental health, we also promote financial well-being by providing access to the Company’s credit union, which hosts various seminars and workshops throughout the year.

Planning a calendar of activities that engages over 400 employees is a key focus. These activities range from our annual calypso competition, cultural celebrations, Fathers’ & Mothers’ Day appreciation, our JAVA experience during the July/August period, which includes a variety of events such as a summer kids camp, movies under the stars, game and all-fours evenings, sip-and-paint nights, karaoke, and much more.

Celebrating and rewarding our employees is cornerstone to Angostura’s engagement culture. Each year, we honor our longstanding employees through the Long Service Awards ceremony, recognizing individuals who have dedicated ten to thirty-five years of service. This ceremony highlights their unwavering commitment and acknowledges their significant contributions, which have been instrumental to the company’s success.

Our workforce is the foundation of our achievements, as demonstrated by the numerous prestigious awards we continue to receive. In 2023, the Human Resources Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago (HRMATT) recognized Angostura as the Best Place to Work with the Coreen Jones Award for Best Place to Work and the Maxine Barnett Award for HR Excellence. The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) and the American Chamber of Commerce also honored us with accolades, including Manufacturer of the Year and Most Improved OSH Performance, respectively.
